5 Wedding “Must-Haves” To Buy On Clearance This Time Of Year | Double Saving Divas

Are you a stressed out bride or groom who’s bank account seems to be depleting by the minute? If so, you’re not alone. During this time of year, there are many preparations, proposals, and wedding celebrations happening. So, we thought that it would be fitting to give you 5 Wedding “Must-Haves” To Buy On Clearance This Time of Year.

Wedding Invitations/Thank You Cards. Did you know that department stores such as Target, sell wedding invitations and Thank You cards? They sure do! They’re beautiful and of great quality stock too!

Many card companies are getting ready to release next season’s designs, and to help make room for the new arrivals, the stores markdown last years designs at a big discount.

To give you an example, we were able to purchase our beautiful wedding invitations for under $5 per box!(you can view them in this segment we did with the Rachael Ray Show). We scored all of our invitations for less than $20 total…you can’t be that!

Flower Girl/Bridesmaid Dresses. Do you want to know where our flower girl’s dress came from? …are you ready?…Burlington Coat Factory! …and, you would’ve never known it. Who say’s that you have to order her dress from a bridal boutique? If you think about it, it really doesn’t benefit most flower girls to get their dress from a bridal store, because most times, these dresses don’t need alterations.

You could score a beautiful flowers girls dress for less, due to Easter dresses still on markdown after the holiday. No one will ever know that it was an Easter gown…who really cares…do you?!  At this time, you can find these dresses for as low as $15 in some stores. If you can’t find any in-store, be sure to go to your favorite department store’s website because many still have these dress in-stock online.

*Due to the prom season coming to an end, you can purchase beautiful bridesmaid dresses at the department stores for an unbeatable price.  If you’re concerened about needing alterations, take your dress to a seamstress at your local dry cleaners. We did this with a bridesmaid dress that we wore to a wedding, and the alterations were perfect and under $15!

Wedding Bands/Engagement Ring. When you head to your preferred jewelry store, ask for their pre-owned or clearance section. The key term is to “ask” for it. When the sales associate knows that you want to purchase a wedding or engagement band, most times, they’ll take you to the new merchandise which will result in a higher sale.

This time of year you may notice a nice size inventory of wedding bands and engagement rings on clearance due to layaway orders not being fully paid, or a custom sizing that was done and couldn’t go back out to the sales floor due to it’s previous customer returning the merchandise.

We were able to score one of our husbands wedding band with diamonds for less than $200, when it’s regular price was close to $1000! You’ll be surprised of the selection of pieces that are on clearance…beautiful pieces at a great cost!

Party Favors/Decorations. This is party season! There are graduations and proms going on across every state line. Many party stores are marking down these party items because of the season coming to an end. Be creative when coming up of a party theme for your bridal or engagement party. You can purchase some of these items and they don’t have to say “Bride” or “Shower” for example. Would you be OK if your balloons say “Congrats” or “Celebrate”? …we would, because your party is still a celebration, and you can save money while celebrating!  …get the idea?

Undergarments/Shape-wear. Every bride needs that special pair of undergarment or shape-wear that will give her figure a flattering look in the dress of her dreams. Now’s the time to purchase these items because of semi-annual sales approaching for many retailers. Victoria’s Secret has a really popular semi-annual sale that usually takes place in early summer. However, they’re running sales on their underwear quite often at this time too! Also, you may want to purchase these items from a retailer such as Kohl’s or Target, to name a few….yes, Target! Actually, we purchased a waist cincher for our ‘big day” at Target for less than $20, and it had our waist looking like a Coca-Cola bottle!  …it was a perfect fit!

Well, this proves it - timing is everything!
